Work Conditioning

Work Conditioning is an active rehabilitation program that concentrates on improving a worker’s physical ability to perform their job requirements and also on improving their overall fitness.

When someone is not able to work for an extended period of time they need to build up their physical ability to return to work. Work conditioning, under the direction of the therapist, is an active program that focuses on assisting the worker to gradually and appropriately build up their tolerance. Strengthening and conditioning exercises are combined with job simulation activities to increase worker’s strength and endurance. In addition, education is provided about proper body mechanics, prevention of injury and self-management. The goal is to safely return the worker to his or her job in a timely manner.

Pro Motion provides this program to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Disability Insurers and employers. It is individually tailored to each worker based on their assessment and job demands. The length of the program is also individual based on the job that is available for the worker to return to and the ability of the worker. Pro Motion Physiotherapy is able to accommodate programs from 2 hours per day to a full day.
